The Grid We Live In is an exploration of dissonant themes coexisting in our world, mirroring the convergence of components found all around us:

structure & fragmentation
rigidity & softness
stability & fragility

predictability & chance
harmony & variance
independence & interdependence

In this body of work, small parts coalesce to form a whole that is greater than its parts, as seen in our environment. An intricate spectrum of colors form a rhythmic interplay that unfolds into a visual tapestry, like individual threads woven together into a fabric.

Irregularities in color arrangement suggest that even amid inconsistency, there can be overall synergy. This visual language invites the eyes to move across the grid, drawing the viewer to look closely, then to step back, taking in the larger composition, discovering and interpreting what is there.

We simultaneously negotiate constraints along with possibilities for expansive movement. Reminiscent of life’s incongruent realities, we also inhabit both limiting boxes and spaces beyond boundaries.

Museum Hours - Mondays: CLOSED, Tuesdays - Sundays: 10am to 4pm

“Revolutionary Monmouth County - Freedom’s Battleground”

2026 is the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America! America’s Semiquincentennial will be celebrated all across the nation and in the County of Monmouth, New Jersey. To highlight Monmouth County’s role in the American Revolution and to showcase the talent and creativity of Monmouth County residents, the MonmouthNJ 250 Committee is hosting an art competition for professional and non-professional artists.

My painting “Hornet’s Nest” which depicts an interpretation of the historic event “Loyalists Raid Pleasant Valley - June 28, 1778” is in this show with 30 other artworks showing moments in Revolutionary Monmouth County history, between 1775 and 1783.

Read more about my process and see images of the painting on my blog post: America’s 250th Anniversary and a Local Art Challenge
